How to finish killing a wart?

I had a wart on my thumb and I've been using Compound W and cutting the dead skin off as it dies. But now I'm down to the bottom of the wart and the Compound W doesn't seem to be working. It has a bunch of tiny dark brown dots. How can I completely kill the wart? What are the brown dots and how can I get rid of them?
