Bowling with no thumb?

What are the pros and cons of bowling with no thumb? I just recently went bowling and I started to try it out, and I thought I did pretty good, and also is there anything wrong with having index and middle finger in the bowling ball instead of my middle and ring? Because I was also doing that?
