If people were to establish oyster/mussels farms at the mouth of rivers in the ocean....?

Would it reduce pollution and at the same time create a sustainable food source? Or would the pollution from the river, say the mississippi river, cause the oysters/mussels to be inedible. I guess what iam asking is could you kill two birds with one stone or would the bivalves be inedible.
